Welcome! My name is Rudy Garbely, and I am a railroad historian, photographer, writer, and modeler.  I am currently a full-time senior undergraduate student at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, majoring in history with minors in both political science and artI also work part-time as a railroad mechanic for the Morristown & Erie Railway.  In my spare time, I am an active member and volunteer in the Conrail Historical Society, the New York Susquehanna & Western Technical & Historical Society, and the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society, and I volunteer at the archives of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.  I am also occasionally involved in both restoration and archival work at the National Museum of Industrial History.   In the time that I have left over after doing all of the above, I own and operate Rudy's Trains, an HO scale model customizing business.

I created this page to share some of my artifacts, photos, and experiences in railroading that I feel that other people would be interested in learning about, especially from a historical standpoint.  I've had many interesting and rare opportunities in my relatively short lifetime to visit or work on, in, and around some of the nation's most important railroading landmarks and achievements, and I feel that many of these experiences are part of a broader history of the country.  My goal is to ensure that the history that I experience
through my access to many of the nation's railroading marvels is as available and accessible to the public as possible.  This website is one small step in that direction.
